We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented hairdresser to join our team at Skin Care Essential Hair Studio. As a hairdresser, you will be responsible for providing a wide range of hairdressing services to our valued clients, ensuring they leave our salon looking and feeling amazing. Your role will involve consulting with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and specifications, as well as offering expert advice on suitable haircuts, hairstyles, and hair colours based on their individual features and hair type.
Duties and Responsibilities:
As a hair stylist, your duties will encompass various aspects, from delivering top-notch customer service to showcasing technical expertise and product knowledge. You may also be involved in training junior and senior hair stylists. Your general tasks as a hair stylist include:
• Warmly welcoming customers and ensuring their comfort throughout their salon experience.
• Conduct consultations with clients to determine their hairdressing needs and preferences.
• Offer expert advice on suitable haircuts, hairstyles, and hair colours based on clients’ physical features and hair type.
• Recommending and promoting appropriate hair care products to clients.
• Perform cutting, trimming, and shaping of clients’ hair, hair extensions, hairpieces, and toupes as per their preferences and specifications.
• Provide professional hair washing, conditioning, and drying services.
• Administer various hair colouring treatments while ensuring to inquire about potential hair dye sensitivities and allergies.
• Staying up-to-date with the latest trends, hairstyles, and hair care products.
• Maintaining a clean work station and regularly sanitizing equipment.
• Utilizing a variety of tools, such as straighteners, clippers, and hot brushes, to achieve desired hairstyles.
• Collaborating with suppliers and managing inventory of hair products and tools.
• Will need to assist as a receptionist and all-rounder role to ensure the smooth running of the salon
• Handling payment collection for salon services rendered.
Hair Stylist skills and qualifications
In addition to having technical expertise, a Hair Stylist needs to be a people person. As these professionals chat with clients throughout the working day and work in close proximity to other Hair Stylists, should ideally enjoy the company of others and have an outgoing personality. A successful Hair Stylist candidate will have various prerequisite skills and qualifications, these typically include:
Strong listening skills in order to understand a client’s needs
Good verbal skills, so they can effectively advise clients
Excellent customer service skills
The ability to work a flexible schedule
The ability to build long-term relationships with clients
Patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure
Physical stamina in order to handle long hours on their feet
Good time management skills, so that clients are not kept waiting
Basic knowledge of computers
Able to maintain professionalism and always follow salon etiquette guidance.
Requirements:
• National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) in hairdressing. NVQ Level 1 and 2 Diplomas in Hairdressing, demonstrate that a candidate has all the essential knowledge to work as a qualified Hair Stylist
• Ability to stand for extended periods and work well under pressure.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication skills and exceptional customer service abilities.
• Patience and a customer-focused approach.
At least one year of experience working in a salon
Working Hours:
The salon operates six days a week from 11AM to 7PM, and you may be required to work on Saturdays, which tends to be our busiest day, sometimes requiring you to work late.
Remuneration: Basic pay of £21, 673. 60 plus commission
